RALLY AT THE BIRMINGHAM-JEFFERSON CONVENTION CENTER
If you will be in Birmingham, please register here to let us know you plan to attend.
We will hold signs and distribute ministry leader resource guides to assist church leaders in appropriately handling abuse disclosures and accurately identifying abuse. You are welcome to bring your own sign. We will also be making sign artwork available for download or create your own. We will have some signs available at the rally location. We invite you to wear a red shirt or buy a 2019 For Such A Time As This t-shirt so that we have a cohesive look.
We will have a short program of speakers including:
Christa Brown, long-time SBC abuse activist and creator of Stop Baptist Predators blog
David Clohessy, SNAP
Brooks Hansen, SBC abuse survivor and advocate
Jules Woodson, SBC abuse survivor and advocate
Dwight McKissic, Pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church, Arlington, TX
Carolyn Deevers, former spouse of clergy sexual predator and abuse victim advocate
Cheryl Summers, Founder of For Such A Time As This Rally
Tuesday, June 11 7 - 10 PM Post-Rally Gathering for Survivors and Advocates

This event will mostly be a time to network together and debrief from the rally. Dee Parsons of The Wartburg Watch will be sharing a few words and we hope to have some other guest announcements soon. This will be a relaxed time. Food and drink will be available for purchase.
We have set up room blocks for out of town attendees at two hotels in Homewood, AL. This is a short 10 minute drive to the rally location. The hotels are next door to one another.

This year, we are selling t-shirts. If you will be in Birmingham, this is a great way for us all to stand out and have unified presence. That said, you do not need to have a t-shirt to attend.
If you are not going to be in Birmingham, buy a shirt to stand in solidarity with For Such A Time As This Rally wherever you are! Buying a shirt or mug helps to cover some of the costs associated with organizing the rally. You'll notice that we have a style just for those who would like to help contribute to these costs in a more significant way with options to donate an extra $25, $75 or even $500. Last year's rally was funded entirely by organizers. This is not a money-making endeavor, but there are costs associated with the event. We appreciate those standing with us! Order your t-shirt or mug now.
Join us online if you can't be in Birmingham
If you can't be in Birmingham, you can still be part of the rally! We will again be live streaming (Facebook Live) much of the rally from our Facebook page. We will also be hosting special appearances from various advocates and abuse experts through the day on June 11 on the Facebook page.
Ahead of the rally, we need your help promoting the rally. Invite friends within driving distance of Birmingham (and we're even hearing from people who are flying into Birmingham to be there). Please share our posts on social media (Facebook or Twitter). Help us spread the word.
Thank you for standing with us against abuse in the Southern Baptist Convention!
