For Such A Time As This Rally - COVID Edition
We originally imagined that we would all be in Orlando this June for the 3rd Annual For Such A Time As This Rally, but.....COVID. For the first time since World War II, the Southern Baptist Convention cancelled its annual meeting. The SBC announced recently that they will be holding SBC Advance on June 2. So, like so many things during this worldwide pandemic, we are taking For Such A Time As This Rally virtual on Tuesday, June 2. Despite the short notice, we've decided that a little, 'ol pandemic will not keep us from having our voices heard while the spotlight is on the SBC.
Six SIMPLE ways to participate in the Virtual Rally!
1. Check out what we're doing on social media. We will be sharing new videos from advocates and survivors. We will also be re-posting favorite videos from years past. Find us at www.facebook.com/forsuchatimeasthisrally or on Twitter at @SBCForSuchATime.
We're really looking forward to Ashley Easter interviewing Christa Brown and Megan Benninger about the new abuse database, www.BaptistAccountability.org!
2. Take a selfie with our Virtual Rally Printable and post it on June 2. Check out our Virtual Rally Printable on Google docs, print and write in why you stand with For Such A Time As This Rally, then take a selfie with the printable and share on social media on #VirtualRally2020 Rally Day, Tuesday June 2.
3. Share, share, share using the Virtual Rally hashtags! Share videos and posts throughout the day on June 2 (and after) using our Virtual Rally hashtags. The SBC Advance virtual event will be using #SBCadvance. Let's "hijack" their hashtag and spread the word about the Rally's goals by tagging any Virtual Rally posts with #SBCadvance as well as #forsuchatimeasthisrally and #virtualrally2020 and #SBCtoo. Of course, you're welcome to use other related hashtags like #churchtoo or #metoo.
4. "Attend" the event on Facebook. You will see the event listed on our Facebook page. Please go to the event and indicate that you are "attending." This will make the Virtual Rally more visible to others, and will help us spread the word.
5. Add our Facebook profile frame to your profile picture. We've created
a Virtual Rally Facebook profile frame that you can use this week. Check out this link or from Facebook profile frames, search #forsuchatimeasthisrally.
6. Invite like-minded people. Due to the last minute announcement about SBC Advance, we're also pulling this together at the last minute. Please help out by reaching out to like-minded people who care deeply about addressing abuse. Ask them to participate in the June 2 Virtual Rally.
