Rally Details Some of you will be able to attend the rally in person, and we will be looking forward to meeting you on Tuesday, June 12 at 11:30 AM. Others will be able to support the rally efforts online and on social media. We have information for both groups! Schedule - Tuesday, June 12 11:30 - 1:30 Those attending the rally in Dallas Where exactly should we meet? The site of the rally will be directly in front of the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center at the corner of Griffin and Ceremonial streets. If you click the link, you can see the street level view. We will be in the grassy area and on the sidewalk. What about parking? The closest parking to the rally site appears to be in Convention Center Lot C. The cost is $15. Street parking may be available if you prefer. A full view of the complex and various parking options is here. What about the weather / heat? It will be in the 90s on Tuesday, and is supposed to be dry. We will have cold water for attendees. Dress in loose, cool clothing. Dallas Police have also said that we can put up a temporary 10 x 10 or 12 x 12 portable canopy/tent that can be used as a cooling area. The Aloft Hotel said that rally attendees may come into their lobby in small groups to cool down. We talked to Mary in the Sales Department. This is a considerable walk across the Pioneer Park area from the rally site to the Aloft hotel. What To Bring Please bring a lawn chair or two, if you are able. You may want to use this during the speaker portion of the rally. Sunscreen Cold drinks or snacks. We will have water, but you may want something of your own. What About Security? We will have a Dallas PD detective assigned to us. She and the other officers should be on site most of the time. What will we be doing at the rally? First and foremost, we want to be kind and positive! We request that rally attendees refrain from yelling at SBC Annual Meeting attendees or otherwise engaging in angry or hostile behavior. We will have some signs available for rally attendees to hold, although we cannot guarantee that we'll have enough for everyone. If you're able, please check out some sign options here , choose your favorite and then print at Office Depot, Staples or another quick print location. The most affordable option will be an 11 x 17 digital print on cardstock at around $1.50 each. Larger, poster-sized versions can also be printed, but will be more expensive. You can also make your own if you'd like We will also need rally attendees to distribute our Pastor's Resource Guide. One of the goals of the event is to educate pastors on abuse. We will be distributing a one-sheet document with recommended reading and best practices for handling abuse disclosures in a ministry setting. We will have a formal program portion of the event where we will hear from several experts and ministry leaders. Those who cannot attend rally in Dallas Facebook Live We plan to make the event available on Facebook Live. Please make sure that you have liked the Facebook page and you should be able to watch between 11:30 - 1:30. Thunderclap - Virtual Rally Go to our Thunderclap page to sign up for the virtual rally. Signing up will allow all interested parties to sign up to automatically post the For Such A Time As This Rally logo and message to social media during the rally. You can customize a portion of what your message about the rally. All Thunderclap posts will post simultaneously at 12 noon during the rally!
